The Marin Headlands Hostel is located just ten minutes away from the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The hostel consists of two historic buildings built in 1907 that used to be living quarters for the officers of Fort Barry. Rooms are dormitory style complete with bunkbeds, shared bathrooms and lots of charm. The hostel is serving as the informal “headquarters” for the symposium – the place to eat, sleep, shower, study, meet coaches and other paddlers and have a great time.
Driving times between the Marin Headlands Hostel and the Presidio Yacht Club Launch is approximately 10 minutes. In the middle of the drive is a one-way tunnel with a 5-minute long red light. Be prepared to wait up to 5 minutes…
Although clean linens and pillows are provided at the hostel, some people prefer to bring sleeping bags. When you arrive at the hostel the first night, your bed will be made up and ready to use. When you check-out, your only responsibility is to strip the bed and re-make it with fresh, clean sheets. Clean sheets are located in the lobby, as are the hampers for the dirty sheets.
