Symposium Accommodations
The Marin Headlands Hostel in Sausalito is a great place to relax, be social, eat, sleep and call home for the weekend. Marin Headlands Hostel Fort Barry Building 941 Sausalito, CA 94965 (415) 331-2777The Marin Headlands Hostel is located just ten minutes away from the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The hostel consists of two historic buildings built in 1907 that used to be living quarters for the officers of Fort Barry. Rooms are dormitory style complete with bunkbeds, shared bathrooms and lots of charm. The hostel is serving as the informal “headquarters” for the symposium – the place to eat, sleep, shower, study, meet other paddlers and have a great time. The hostel holds 80 paddlers and is the official lodging for GGSKS coaches and staff.
The Marin Headlands Hostel is not a hotel, motel, condo or resort. The rooms are shared. Most rooms hold 8 people with bunkbeds, the largest room holds 20 people. Earplugs are useful. Cell service is poor and there is no wireless. Now to the good aspects of the hostel… It is in a beautiful setting in the Marin Headlands and is the headquarters of the event. For three days it is inundated with some of the best paddlers in the country and the world. It is a very social, cozy atmosphere that is highly affordable. In most cases, you will be tired enough to sleep through everything – even snoring.
